Frequently Asked Questions

Infusion therapy involves the administration of medication through a needle or catheter, typically when oral medication is not an option. It’s used for a wide range of diseases and conditions.

Most insurance companies cover Infusion Therapy care with a prior authorization, which the Valley Infusion Care team will take care of securing. The portion insurance will cover depends on which medication your doctor prescribes, among other factors.  Rest assured, our team will make sure you’re fully aware of all costs associated with treatment if you have any out of pocket costs.  In addition, for those who do not have adequate coverage, we have patient assistance programs which may be able to help cover your out of pocket expense.

Infusion therapy can treat various conditions, including autoimmune diseases, infections that are unresponsive to oral antibiotics,  gastrointestinal diseases, and neurological disorders, among others.

If you suffer from a condition where Infusion Therapy can be beneficial, ask your Doctor about a referral to Valley Infusion Care. After obtaining a referral and any relevant case notes from your doctor, we’ll handle the submission of documents to your health insurance to obtain authorization for treatment. Should there be any queries or requests for further information from them, we’ll coordinate directly with your doctor’s office to address these concerns. Typically, your initial infusion is scheduled within a week or so of us receiving the referral, although it may occasionally take slightly longer.

The duration of an infusion therapy session can vary depending on the medication and condition being treated. Sessions can last anywhere from 30 minutes to a few hours.

Most patients describe infusion therapy treatment as mostly painless, but that depends on the patient and the medication being administered.

Patients might feel a slight prick when the needle is inserted, but the process is generally not painful. Our staff is trained to ensure your comfort and can provide numbing cream to minimize discomfort.

Side effects depend on the type of medication administered. Common side effects may include nausea, headache, or dizziness, but our Valley Infusion Care team will monitor you closely to manage any adverse reactions promptly.
